In Port-au-Prince, Paulo Neves visited the area most affected by the January 2010 earthquake. He held a meeting with the Cuban Medical Brigade – the largest external medical support organization in Haiti. The person responsible for this relief operation for the victims of the earthquake, Dr. Lorenzo Somarriba López, gave a detailed presentation of the health situation in Haiti and what is being done to support the population. It should be noted that IPDAL supported the Haitian Red Cross with food by sending, in February 2010, a container with humanitarian aid to Haiti.

In the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis – a CARICOM member country – the president of IPDAL visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Basseterre – the country’s capital – for official contacts. At the United Nations in New York, contacts were maintained with the Economic and Social Council at the United Nations premises.
