IPDAL in Yuste

Institute present at conference with SEGIB, EU-LAC Foundation and former ministers from Latin America.

The President of IPDAL was the moderator of the panel where the former Executive Secretary of ECLAC and Minister of Economy of Argentina, Jose Luis Machinea, and the professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, José Antonio Sanahuja, participated.

Paulo Neves discussed the role of Latin American countries in an international order undergoing rapid change and in the midst of a crisis of multilateralism. The head of IPDAL also reflected on Latin America’s relationship with Africa, the United States, China and the European Union.

The seminar, organized by Fundación Academia Europea e Iberoamericana de Yuste , was dedicated to the theme “Latin America – Europe relations: a renewed political alliance?” and was attended by the Secretary General of SEGIB, the Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation, the Real Instituto Elcano, the Inter-American Development Bank, as well as several previous ministers and academics from Latin American countries.

The initiative, whose first edition in 2017 had already included the participation of IPDAL, took place again at the Monastery of San Jeronimo de Yuste, the place that Emperor Charles V chose to spend the last months of his life.
