IPDAL points the way for the evolution of relations between the three continents
“A success on all levels. It corresponded exactly to what we predicted, but it is still extraordinary: during this day, solid foundations and concrete proposals were laid to improve relations between the three continents. I think it was impossible to exceed expectations, they were so high. Never has the bar we set for ourselves – and for all our partners – been so high. What was achieved here today, in this first phase of the work that will be carried out in the coming months, met all the demanding criteria imposed by a mission of this importance. Congratulations to all of our partners, they were scrupulous in complying with the proposed format and in the pragmatism of the recommendations. We promised and, together, we delivered.” This is how the Secretary General of IPDAL takes stock of the “I Meeting “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa”.
Speaking to the official IPDAL website, Filipe Domingues praised the work of all partners “everything would have been much more complicated without the support of Fundação Luso-Espanhola and LIDE-Portugal, our two co-organizers. We also have the greatest pleasure in reiterating our thanks to all the partners of the initiative: from Caixa Geral de Depósitos, to SEGIB, Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, TIMWE, Real Instituto Elcano, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Associação Comercial de Lisboa and the Business Forum for the Economy of the Sea, the Arab-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Marsh, the Camões Institute, the Cervantes Institute, Travelport, APAVT, Diário Económico and, of course, the Fontana Park Hotel.”
Last Monday, March 12th, IPDAL brought together in Lisbon the greatest experts in Economic and Commercial Relations, Academic Relations, Culture and Language, Good Governance, Regional Integration and Inter-regional Relations and Tourism.
At the Fontana Park Hotel, concrete processes and pragmatic ways of improving relations between Latin America, Europe and Africa were identified. The recommendations are now in the hands of a Scientific Committee, which will draft a policy paper to deliver to the governments of Latin America, Europe and Africa.
The Meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Miguel Relvas, the Ibero-American Secretary General, D. Enrique Iglesias, the Director General of the CPLP, Dr. Hélder Vaz, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luís Amado, the Deputy Secretary of State, Dr. Feliciano Barreiras Duarte, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Dr. Cecília Meireles and the Secretary of State for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Competitiveness, Eng. Carlos Oliveira.
