IPDAL held a working meeting between the group of Latin American ambassadors and the Executive Director of the EU-LAC Foundation.
In this initiative, Adrián Bonilla presented the foundation’s strategic vision to the diplomatic corps, which consists of promoting bi-regional ties between the European Union and Latin America.
This dialogue is based on existing association agreements and those under negotiation, such as the EU-Mercosur agreement.
The organization’s Director also explained the ongoing programs and the main lines of action followed by the Foundation, also in the economic, cultural, academic and scientific spheres.
The ambassadors had the opportunity to express their ideas on the main advances and obstacles in this process, the perspective of this relationship specific to each of their countries, and the importance of institutionalizing Euro-American ties with the pandemic crisis, especially due to the distribution equity of vaccines under the Covax initiative.
Finally, the meeting also included the intervention of deputy Duarte Pacheco – President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, an international organization created in the 19th century and which brings together parliaments from all over the world.
The initiative took place on the 23rd of June, at the Literary Grémio, preceding the III Forum “Portugal – Central America and the Caribbean”.
