The institute
Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean
is a private, non-profit organization that aims to strengthen relations between Portugal and Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly through economic diplomacy.
It has a very practical approach and a small structure. IPDAL’s activities are mainly business-related, providing specialized support for the internationalization of Portuguese companies: through a network of business and official contacts, IPDAL carries out and accompanies personalized work missions to Latin America, where it identifies partners, clients, suppliers, distributors, as well as relevant institutional contacts, on an individual basis, for each Portuguese company.
In addition to business activities, IPDAL attaches great importance to the Institutional sector, promoting the Embassies of Latin America and the Caribbean to the most varied Portuguese organizations and personalities. IPDAL also carries out academic initiatives, publicizing Latin American and Caribbean themes, personalities, events and studies at Portuguese universities. Finally, IPDAL is also involved in cultural activities, having already organized book launches, exhibitions of paintings, photography, jewelry and Latin American and Caribbean handicrafts.
IPDAL also attaches great importance to all themes related to the Atlantic, and is also committed to strengthening relations with the African continent. Proof of this is the annual “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa” and “Latin America – CPLP” meetings. These are two more of the Institute’s original brand images.
IPDAL’s partners include all the Latin American and Caribbean diplomatic representations in Portugal. It is a pluralist institution, independent of governments and political parties.
